Dubuque County Historical Society Guide Meets Milestone

August 2, 2007

How long does it take to meet someone from all 50 states and 14 countries all while working in Dubuque? For Bob Eichman, a Dubuque County Historical Society and Trolley of Dubuque employee, it took eight years.

As an employee for the Dubuque County Historical Society, Bob works as a tour guide where he meets tourist for a variety of tours like the Victorian House Tour & Progressive Dinner and motorcoach city tours. Bob started keeping track eight years ago and concluded his tally on July 25 when he welcomed an American Queen steamboat group and met someone from Vermont. Always having an interest in geography, Bob said that was always his strong point while in school.

The Dubuque County Historical Society operates the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium, the National Rivers Hall of Fame, the Mathias Ham House Historic Site, the Old Jail Museum, the Ryan House and the Dubuque Guide Service.
